A Personal Appeal From DSAC President, Robert Stahl

Dear Reader,

Since 1953 the Driving School Association of California, a non-profit association has tirelessly supported efforts to protect and advance the driving school industry, and driver safety. Not a single board member is given a salary, we are all volunteers. All of the money generated by seminar fees, association membership dues, promotional items, etc. are reinvested directly into efforts to protect and advance the driving school industry, and driver safety. Furthermore, every Board Member of the DSAC is elected by the association members. The DSAC is truly your association.

For those of you who are members, and support our seminars, and web site, and other industry services we thank you. Your commitment to your industry is greatly appreciated. To those of you who are not members, or have not attended a seminar, or used one of the many other services provided by the DSAC we urge you to join us. It is only with your help and support that this industry will survive and grow. Every law abiding school in this state should be interested in being a member, and supporting our efforts in every way possible. The few dollars you may believe you are saving are costing you much more than you can possibly imagine.

The DSAC is the only association of its kind that has a professional legislative advocate. This advocate operates on behalf of our industry and association directly from Sacramento. It is only through these efforts that the industry has a voice in the government that regulates and controls our livelihood. Without this voice, our industry would have been legislated out of existence by careless and uninformed officials many years ago. I would remind you all that only 2 years ago a bill was gaining momentum in Sacramento that would have returned funding for driver education and driver training to public high schools. Passage of this bill would have devastated the private driving school industry. Fortunately for us all, member and non-member alike, the DSAC stood alone in opposition of this bill, and defeated it, as it has done many times in the past, and will do again in the future.

Over the 57 year history of the DSAC we have seen many other for-profit seminar providers come and go, but the DSAC has outlived them all, due to our steadfast commitment to the driving school industry, and driver safety. The continuing education seminars organized and presented by the DSAC are the best in the industry. Many of our speakers are government officials from the DMV, CALTRANS, EDD, CHP, etc. These speakers are only presented to you at DSAC seminars because we are a non-profit association, dedicated to traffic safety.

We have also brought guest speakers from the auto manufacturing industry, the vehicle insurance industry, credit card processing industry, advertising industry, phone industry, etc. The list goes on, and on. We bring in the top people for your benefit. None of our guest speakers are paid. They volunteer their time, and effort as a gesture to the industry, and to the DSAC.

What would our industry be like without the DSAC?

I shudder to imagine the possibility, and sincerely hope that with your support, we will never find out.

Sincerely,

Robert Jay Stahl
